Take 5 for the Environment!
Have you seen the bright orange signs staked in yards around Denver? How about Hickenlooper driving his Hybrid Ford Escape? Are you conscious of your own personal carbon footprint on the environment? For more information check out some of my other links– www.greenprintdenver.org and “Calculate Your Carbon Footprint”.

Here are 5 easy ways to make a difference for the environment! Pledge today!
Energy: I pledge to replace 4 lightbulbs with compact fluorescent lightbulbs. This will save 1,760 kilowatt-hours of electricity over the life of the bulbs. Together, all Denver residents can save over $20 million each year on our electric bills!
Water: I pledge to reduce my daily shower time by 45 seconds. This will save 2 gallons of water each day! Together, all Denver residents can save over 400 million gallons, about as much water as Denver’s 5 largest city parks need in a year!
Air: I pledge to replace at least one car tip a week with walking or bicycling! I will decrease carbon dioxide emissions by 520 pounds per year! Together, all Denver residents can prevent 152,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is the equivalent of removing 25,500 cars from the road each year!
Land: I pledge to plant a tree in the city. I can join other metro Denver residents in planting one million trees as part of Tree by Tree — the Mile High Million! Together, we can help remove pollutants from the air, create shade to reduce energy use, and filter dirty stormwater runoff!
Waste: I pledge to replace plastic shopping bags with reusable ones. I can eliminate 208 bags per year! And together, all Denver residents can save the amount of petroleum required to drive a car around the earth’s equator 351 times!
These are just a few ideas that will help– if you’d like more creative ideas to help the environment, visit www.greenprintdenver.org! You can get involved, volunteer!
Have a great week!
