Green Living

Published by

Geez, Kermit had it right all along! GREEN is in, is easy and the best way to live!

I have earned NAR’s (National Association of Realtors) Green Designation– which I must add, not many agents have achieved this designation.  :-)

NAR's Sustainable Property Designation

Designed for residential, commercial and property management professionals looking to green their businesses and their lives, the Green designation means that I have gained:

  • A comprehensive understanding of what it means to go green and the concerns of consumers seeking green knowledge about real estate
  • Valuable real estate education that broadens my abilities in the eyes of clients, prospective clients and associates
  • Ongoing specialized training and resources that help me stay on top of green real estate issues and trends
  • Knowledge to better guide home buyers in the selection of a green home and its features and help current home owners with direction on greening their home
  • In addition to guiding buyers and sellers, I can also advise investors and developer clients in how to incorporate green features into their projects around Denver

As an environmentally conscious individual and GREEN Realtor, here is a list of how I/we practice being green and limit our impact–

Deb’s Personal Sustainable Practices:

  • During a large renovation project I did on my previous home, located in Montclair, a historic and wonderful neighborhood in Denver, I incorporated many green features into the remodel of this older home and ultimately it turned out to be a perfect blend of wonderful old charm and character with new environmentally friendly features.
  • Living in Stapleton certainly supports green living– homes that go “up” instead of “out” is the best way to make the best use of the land. And all of the builders had to meet high built green standards to even be able to build in Stapleton. I appreciate the features in our home that help minimize our impact on the environment and our improve our health.
  • Though I live in Stapleton, a new development, I have a great love of the old homes around Denver– I encourage homeowners, developers, investors and buyers to “recycle” their homes or projects by adding energy-efficient systems and other green features to their existing home vs tearing these homes down. I am also a member of “Denver’s Old House Society”.

Green is the new bright idea!

Deb’s Real Estate Sustainable Practices:

  • At DBRE we use cutting-edge technology and have the best tech guru one could have in Colorado! This support allows us to “meet” online, share info, communicate and manage our office business and each agents individual businesses online– if we can avoid driving somewhere, we will!
  • We have a paperless transaction system in place. All of our real estate contracts and documents are created via eContracts and we manage them via a proprietary transaction system we have developed. This eliminates the need to print countless pages of paper, over and over… And we can easily share them with our clients, other agents, the office, title companies, lenders, etc. via email. Agents and clients can also sign them electronically– works out great!
  • As required by the Colorado Real Estate Commission, every brokerage is legally required to save (for 7 yrs) the documentation generated on each and every real estate transaction. Because all of our documentation is generated electronically, we have eliminated the need to store hard copies of these documents. It is all stored online and is easily accessible should any of our clients ever need to access their documents. Sorry Office Max, we have really cut into your paper, printer and file cabinet sales!
  • Because the internet allows us to provide far more information about a home for sale online, we do try and minimize creating printed materials. i.e. property brochures, direct mail and printed advertising, however, if a client would like these types of marketing materials, we will at least use recycled materials whenever possible.
  • At the office, we recycle and reuse materials whenever possible too!
  • Last but not least, to be different and have some fun, our brokerage branding includes the use of animal photography, taken from an award-winning Colorado photographer, Rob Palmer. I share this because animals probably set the best example of what it means to be living green! No frogs though!

Thank you!

It’s easy being green…
