Agents! Don’t be a Generalist!
As a Realtor, I strive to keep my focus on area knowledge in real estate very specific. I also believe gone are the days that agents said “I have a license to sell real estate in the whole state of Colorado! So YES! I can sell your house in Colorado Springs!” I bring this up as I just recently referred some very good clients of mine from the Denver area to another KW agent in the Springs to list and sell a rental they have there. It does me no good and especially no good to my clients for me to list their house there… I don’t have a clue about the market in that area, nor is it logistically convenient for me to service my clients the way I would like to. Period. I helped these clients sell their cute mid-century ranch in the Edgewater/Sloans Lake neighborhood and then helped them buy a really cool loft downtown. I want to keep a good record of success with my clients and if it means referring the business to someone else, well that in itself is good service too! Anyway… Localize your efforts and focus! Any folks in Denver who are considering a career in real estate, please feel free to contact me on this blog or via my contact info! I’d be happy to explain further! Deb
